TABASSUM HAIDAR – BACP THEAPEUTIC COUNSELLOR

Experienced Counselling Professional

In 2010 I graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from the College of Holistic Medicine, recognised by the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). This 3-year course involved learning a variety of Models including CBT, Person Centred, Mindfulness and even Gestalt. Having fulfilled the criteria for post graduate hours I am able to work towards my Accreditation. I am located in Glagsgow, Scotland. I have been able to work with clients around the Globe through Skype and Telephone. I have had the privilege of working with many clients through a number of organisations. Past experiences include counselling clients with Cancer Support Scotland, Muslim Women’s Resource Centre, Crisis Erskine, GP Medical Practice, BMACC and Sakoon Counselling.
As well as counselling I have experience in teaching and training positions. This allows me to organise and conduct workshops that support women in a safe and supportive environment. Life Coaching and Self Development workshops are available. I have recently conducted a ‘Unique’ workshop for children and young people from  ages of 11-18 years, supporting them in becoming more self-empowered through learning self-defence and skills that help them to overcome their anxiety in peer pressure situations.
I have been supported by CPD and continuing to learn and gain certification in ASIST (Suicide Prevention) and BME Mental Health Awareness. Both credited by GAMH (Glasgow Association of Mental Health).

A place to breathe.

From an early age I knew that I wanted to do something that made a difference in people’s lives but exactly how to do that, I was unsure. In some way, if I could help or support another person. Through life’s choices and situations, I had the privilege of working in a  number of jobs from business and clerical pharmacy to to youth work  and advocacy. Each position always involved working face to face with people. I have been  blessed to have met some amazing and courageous people throughout my life, under unexpected circumstances. Through them, I have been able to grow, learn and evaluate my priorities and become more focused on my purpose in life. These kind and caring individuals supported me in my learning through difficult times, when there seemed to be no avenues visible. Through faith, perseverance and hope I decided that I wanted to pursue Counselling. To help support women of any background and situation. To help to empower support and encourage them in their life journey. To pay it forward as others have done for me.

My faith is what keeps me going in life, which is why I call it ‘Counselling for the mind body and soul.’ Recognising our purpose in life is one of the many challenges people face nowadays. When this purpose becomes clearer, we can start to put in stepping stones to help us get to that purpose. With support and encouragement, counselling allows us to be able to feel supported and encouraged in reaching our goals. Goals are different for every individual and this space allows for you to explore what makes you…you.

  • To build self-esteem and self-empowerment within ourselves.
  • To live our best self.
  • To not feel judged and criticized.

I aim to work with clients in the Holistic and Therapeutic mode. This allows them to be able to recognise their strengths. To implement skills and techniques that enhances and supports their decisions, for their life. Every individual is unique and is and should treated as such. Everyone can make a positive impact in the world with their choices. Change starts with each one of us. I am here to help you reach that.

NUR Counselling offers you a place where there is no judgement only support in helping you through whatever situation you may be in. A safe and highly confidential place where you can take a moment to stop and …Breathe. Helping you to explore and recognise your strengths and what seems like obstacles. By gaining skill sets and techniques to be able to see things from a different perspective that is supportive of you and your choices.
NUR counselling offers a confidential service. Working within the BACP Ethical Framework for good practice in Counselling.
